General Questions
What is Xtreme?
Xtreme is an environment for 6th-8th grade students. Xtreme is comprised of two elements, large group and small group. In large group, all students are combined together for crazy cool games, live worship, and a relevant message geared towards issues middle schoolers face. After that, students then break up into small groups to discuss the message.
What camps/events does Xtreme have?
- 6th grade - Boot Camp & Walking Wisely
- 7th grade - Vertical Reality & Walking Wisely
- 8th grade - Vertical Reality & Walking Wisely
What is a Small Group?
Small groups are the heartbeat of Xtreme and one of the most important things we do as a church across all environments. In Xtreme, a small group is a group of middle school students that have been put together by grade, location and gender. They meet together each Sunday at Xtreme in order to connect with other students and their leaders in order to grow deeper in their relationship with God. Typically groups will discuss the message they heard that day in Xtreme and how it relates to their lives. Small groups are encouraged to regularly get together for social events and outings outside of Sunday morning to help build relationships and have fun! Small groups will stay together throughout middle school, multiplying as needed as the groups grow in size.
When do they get out of small group?
Students usually get out of small group around the same time as main service; however, Xtreme does not have an end time. Each group wraps up their discussion at their own pace. So parents please be patient as your students small group ends their discussion.
Parent Questions
Can a parent be a small group leader of their student?
We encourage parents to be small group leaders, but not in their own student's group. In these difficult middle school years, we want someone in addition to their parents speaking into their lives.
How can I as a parent get involved with Xtreme?
We have several opportunities: Small group leader, Host Team, Kitchen Team, and On-Deck Leader. Also, we always need volunteers on the days of our events.
Can my student bring a friend to Xtreme?
Absolutely-positively-YES! We want to provide an environment that is so incredible that your student wants to tell others about it. When the friend comes, we will have them go to On-Deck, which is a small group set-up specifically for first time visitors. This is where they will explain the model of Xtreme and what we do.
What is On-Deck?
On-Deck is a small group environment geared towards first-time students. When your student comes to Xtreme, they will go to large group with all other students. When they dismiss to small groups, your student will go to On-Deck for a two-week period where they discuss what Xtreme is, how small groups are comprised, what the events are, etc. After that two-week period, your student will then be placed in a small group according to their grade, gender, and school district.
